A demand letter formally notifies someone that they aren’t meeting their legal obligations, and asks them for a specific payment or remedy. Most people send a demand letter before heading to court, but demand letters can resolve your claim, letting you avoid court entirely.
If someone didn’t pay you back, didn’t perform their side of the bargain, or sold you a faulty product, we can help get you what you’re owed. All you need to do is give us some information about your case, and within 48-hours we give you a copy of a letter from a lawyer. Once you approve it, the lawyer will mail it out.
Court is expensive, time consuming, and depending on the amount of your claim, often not worthwhile. Though sending a demand letter is often a first step BEFORE filing in court, demand letters completely resolve most claims. Since our letters are debtor-tested, we do even better.
- With a demand letter from a lawyer’s office you show that you’re serious about protecting your rights.
- A LEGAL LETTERS demand shows that you’re willing to escalate the claim because you’re serious about your rights
- A legal letter demand encourages the other party to settle the case to avoid getting sued
- LEGAL LETTERS makes it easier than ever for the other party to pay you and helps you avoid uncomfortable communication
- If the other party delays payment, a LEGAL LETTER starts the clock on interest payments
- Through LEGAL LETTERS, you can get a lawyer’s help, without paying a high retainer fee
- You lent someone money and now they’re refusing to pay you back
- You sent someone an invoice that they haven’t paid
- You paid for a home repair that was done incorrectly
- You bought something online but it came to your door broken, and the company isn’t giving you a refund
- You want someone to cease and desist
- You need a security deposit back from your landlord
- Someone has taken your property, and you want it returned
- Someone is saying defamatory things about you online.
- You had a bargain with someone and they aren’t doing their part
If a person has already refused to pay you or otherwise tried to cheat you, they’re not playing fair. They know what they’ve done wrong, and a DIY letter is unlikely to help you. A Legal Letter has the weight of a lawyer, but without the legal costs
Legal Letters tests all attributes of our letters and uses machine learning to optimize the parameters to drive highest compliance with contracts (things like language, layout, letterhead, paper type, frequency, and more).
- Demand letters effectively settle many claims and are a valuable step to take before filing in court. However, just as in court, the success of your claim depends on many factors, and there are no guaranteed outcomes.
- If the other party refuses to settle or ignores your claim, you may need to bring the case to court. If you want to pursue the claim yourself, we can provide you with small claims court resources. If you want further legal help, we can connect you with a lawyer in your area at a preferential rate.
Our demand letters may be right for you whenever you A) have a legal claim and B) want a specific remedy. This may include cases of:
- Unpaid loan collection
- Unpaid invoice collection
- Refunds for defective products
- Refunds for poorly performed services
- Breach of contract correction
- Cease and desist letters
- Demands for security deposits
If we don’t believe your case can realistically be resolved with a demand letter we will help you find a lawyer in your area.
Note, we don’t take any case. If we think your claim is frivolous, we’ll tell you so.
Legal Letters is committed to protecting your confidentiality. Any information you share with us will be kept between us and our lawyers.
